2024 Discipleship Resources
A Message From Our Pastor For 2024
Our desire as a pastoral staff is to see our church members deepening in their faith and living out the Great Commission. To help make this a reality, we have assembled a specific Discipleship Pathway and additional resources that we would like to make available to you.
The Discipleship Pathway highlights the importance of worship, the intentionality found in Community Groups, the significance of accountability, and the essence of what it looks like to live on on mission. Through each avenue of our Discipleship Pathway, Hickory Grove also provides correlating resources from daily Bible reading plans, daily devotional books, apps, and free subscriptions to relevant gospel-centered content.
We hope you know the Bible more deeply, love God more fully, and serve Him more faithfully. By the end of 2024, I pray you can look back on the year by God’s grace and see growth in your faith and sacrificial service.
In Christ,
Sr. Pastor Clint Pressley
The Discipleship Pathway
Worship
We desire every member to gather on Sundays in Corporate Worship and spend time daily in Personal Worship.
Community Groups
We desire every member to gather around the Word in Community Groups. Community Groups are small groups of believers that gather around the Word and are committed to four primary places that promote a healthy, biblical community.
Discipleship Groups
We desire every member to gather for accountability in Discipleship Groups. A Discipleship Group (D-Group) is a small group consisting of 3–5, gender-specific church members meeting weekly or bi-weekly for accountability and discussion.
Mission
We desire every member to live on Mission. We believe it is not only about being a disciple of Christ but that we are to go and make disciples. Making disciples happens in the home, the church, our schools, and workplace, with our neighbors, and as we are sent to the nations.

Daily Bible Reading plans
This year, we have five recommended reading plans, including two new plans!
The F260 Reading Plan guides you through the 66 books of the Bible in one year, while still having the flexibility of reading 5 days per week.
The M'Cheyne Reading Plan is based on Robert M’Cheyne's reading system, featuring four different readings for use in both family and personal devotions. Each day has two passages from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament, and one from the Psalms or the Gospels. Purchase For the Love of God, Volume 1 or Volume 2 in the Resource Center to go along with this Reading Plan.
The Through The Bible Reading Plan leads you through the entire Bible in 11 months. A portion of the book of Psalms and one gospel will be read each quarter.
The One-Year Chronological Plan will take you through the Bible in chronological order. This plan also provides flexibility by only providing readings six days of a week.
The Two-Year Plan will take you through the entire Bible in two years. For those who would like to take more time, this plan provides flexibility by reading five days a week, with built-in Easter and Christmas reading plans.
Daily Devotional
This year, we have five recommended devotionals, including one specifically for Family Discipleship!
Daily Joy: A 365-Day Women’s Devotional - The Daily Joy devotional inspires women to engage with God’s word every day, allowing the truth of the gospel to transform their lives throughout the year. Topics include God’s grace, redemption, idolatry, worship, God’s wrath, justice, Jesus and the law, persecution, and sin. This devotional includes devotionals for passages throughout the Bible, arranged canonically, with short introductions of each book
For the Love of God, Volume 1 & 2 by DA Carson - Both Volume 1 & 2 devotional contains a systematic 365-day plan, based on the M'Cheyne Bible-reading schedule, that will in the course of a year guide you through the New Testament and Psalms twice and the rest of the Old Testament once.
Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon (Updated by Alistair Begg) - For over one hundred years, Christians have gotten up and gone to bed with Charles Spurgeon's devotional Morning and Evening as a companion. With a reading to begin and end each day throughout the year, you will come to appreciate Spurgeon's emphasis on the importance of abiding in Christ and meditating on God's Word.
Daily Strength: A 365-Day Devotional for Men - Daily Strength walks Christian men through Scripture passages that speak to their most pressing issues. Topics include resting in God’s word, wisdom, forgiveness, prayer, God’s purposes, living a life of integrity, salvation, confessing Christ, forgiveness, discipleship, and maturity. This devotional covers the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and includes at least one devotion for every book of the Bible.
The Whole Story for the Whole Family by Michael Kelley - Parents are called to be the primary spiritual influence in the lives of their children. The Whole Story for the Whole Family is a family devotional for parents to help their kids grow in their faith. In an easy-to-use and simple format, this devotional guide will equip parents to start teaching their children the Bible.
